cmiVFX has released the first video of a brand new three-part series on Houdini FX for simulation of real-time motion. We’ll start this video by building a rigging system that works for any kind of four-wheeled vehicle. The goal is to allow you to drive it in real-time just like you would in a video game by using the mouse and keyboard to control the motion of the vehicle. Part one of this series is full of vehicle animation secrets. We’ll learn how to make the wheels rotate accurately, we’ll create a physically accurate steering system, and much more. Our mentor, Alaliwi Hossam-Aldin, uses particles to create a fully controllable keyboard engine that will allow you to drive your 3D vehicle in any direction and by any speed value.
